What is the model of your wireless gateway? The WPA2 password is just your wireless password. WPA2 is the security type for the wireless password. Any device within the past 6 years should have WPA2 set as the security type already unless changed. When entering your password, make sure you're typing in the wireless password correctly.
See the documentation that came with your access point (wireless router). Key or WPA/WPA2 preshared key/passphrase is not the same as the password for.
Also make sure you're properly capitalizing when needed as wireless passwords are case sensitive. Are you sure you're typing in the correct password? If you're using the default network name and password, that information should be listed on the side of your wireless gateway for convenience. I am not familiar with mac, since I am a pc guy, but is sounds like you may not have wpa2 password authorization set up on your system.
As said, that should be automatic. On the other hand, as long as the two passwords match (the pc and the router) they should connect. (The commonest problem is, someone did not enter the password on the connected device exactly, or someone changed the pw on the router, and forgot to tell you.) Definatly worth checking your connection settings on your mac, and making sure your psk and wps settings are checked. (Psk2 is really just the two protocols both set to on.) Hope we helped. I have VERY CAREFULLY, REPEATEDLY, and CORRECTLY entered my Wi-Fi network name and Wi-Fi password and am then asked for a WPA2 password. The previous answers are not helpful in resolving this issue. For example, ' The WPA2 password is just your wireless password' if so, why am I asked for a WPA2 password IN ADDITION to the Wi- Fi password.
Also, ' you may not have wpa2 password authorization set up on your system. As said, that should be automatic.' Perhaps it SHOULD BE, but it isn't. And, ' as long as the two passwords match (the pc and the router) they should connect' - Yep, THEY SHOULD but they don't. Can someone offer a solution? I need help my password doesn't work.
